How Members of the Louisiana Supreme Court are Selected:

Partisan Election

Justices are selected and re-selected in partisan elections to 10-year terms by voters of the region that their seat represents. Interim vacancies are filled by the sitting Supreme Court justices (via majority vote) and a replacement (the temporary seat-holder is not eligible to run) is elected in a special partisan election.
