How Members of the Texas Supreme Court are Selected:
Partisan Election
Justices are selected and re-selected in partisan elections to six-year terms. If an unexpected vacancy occurs, the governor can appoint a justice who must then be confirmed by the state senate for the remainder of an unexpired term. Justices cannot run for election if over the age of 75.
