How Members of the Oklahoma Supreme Court are Selected:

Appointment, Retention Election

Justices are appointed by the governor from a list prepared by the Oklahoma Judicial Nominating Commission, which consists of 15 volunteer members, six of whom are lawyers elected by the state bar association with each representing one of six congressional districts. In the first general statewide election after their appointment, justices face a retention election to serve a six-year term and then face retention elections for subsequent six-year terms.
